Our Work

Whitemarsh Foundation’s mission is to conserve and steward the Whitemarsh Valley and to further open space preservation, advocacy and education.

We express our mission through our capital investments in the creation and stewardship of the Dixon Meadow Preserve, Dixon House and the BLBB Pavilion, and through our commitment to educating the public and tomorrow’s leaders about the value of open space though our innovative Education Program.

2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Whitemarsh Foundation, and an opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary ingenuity and partnerships that brought the organization to life. We are looking forward to partnering with Whitemarsh Township to expand open space access even further in the years to come!

You can learn more about our founding and history in our downloadable book, “The History of the Preservation of Erdenheim Farm.”

Our Home

Dixon Meadow Preserve

The 14-acre Dixon Meadow Preserve is located on the corner of Thomas and Flourtown Roads in Whitemarsh Township. The Preserve is a section of formerly eroded pastureland that we have rewilded into a haven for birders, walkers and anyone who enjoys the area’s natural flora and fauna and spectacular vistas.

Dixon Meadow House & the BLBB Education Pavilion

Just up the hill from Dixon Meadow Preserve is Dixon Meadow House & the BLBB Education Pavilion. Built in approximately 1857, Dixon Meadow House was the estate home of the then-owner of a portion of what is now Erdenheim Farm. Today, after a complete restoration, the historic house is Whitemarsh Foundation’s headquarters, and the BLBB Education Pavilion is the home of our School Group program.
