Birds of Prey with Raptor Jawns
Experience the awe and wonder of some of nature’s most remarkable predators during this exciting live birds of prey program at Dixon Meadow Preserve. Hosted by the Whitemarsh Foundation and presented by Raptor Jawns, this unforgettable event offers a rare opportunity to connect with birds of prey through up-close encounters and hands-on learning.
Participants will meet an adorable Eastern Screech-Owl, a majestic Red-tailed Hawk, and the impressive Eurasian Eagle-Owl while learning about each bird’s individual story, natural history, adaptations, hunting strategies, and important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Following the live bird presentation, participants will become wildlife detectives during a hands-on owl pellet dissection. By carefully examining the bones, fur, and other remains found within owl pellets, you’ll discover what these fascinating nocturnal hunters eat and gain a better understanding of predator-prey relationships and food webs in our local ecosystems.
This program is appropriate for audiences of all ages and offers a memorable experience for families, aspiring naturalists, and anyone curious about the incredible world of raptors.
