Ellin Dixon-Miller, Board Member
Ellin was a graduate of Springside School, Cabrini College, BA History, and Nova Southeastern University, MS Education. She taught at The Benjamin School, North Palm Beach, FL for 13 years following her retirement from her equestrian career.
She was a member of the United States Equestrian Team representing the United States in Dressage competition in the US and Europe most notably in the World Championships in 1980, U.S. National Champion in 1981, as alternate for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, the World Cup in S’Hertogonbosch, Netherlands in 1986 and both the Olympic Festival and Pan American Games in 1987. While competing she also served as President of the United States Dressage Federation, the United States Equestrian Team, and the American Horse Shows Association (then the National Governing Body for Olympic Sport) where she headed the Dressage Committee guiding the sport for over six years. She is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the United States Dressage Federation and the Richard McDevitt Sportsmanship Award from the American Horse Shows Association for her contributions to the sport of Dressage.
Ellin has served locally on the Board of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and is President of the Widener Memorial Foundation focusing on orthopedically challenged children in the tri-State area. She also has served on the Boards of The Benjamin School; Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center (Past President), Loxahatchee, Florida; Friends of John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, (Past President), North Palm Beach, Florida; and Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park, Winter Harbor, Maine.
